When your mind, body and spirit need rejuvenation, we at Soma Spa have an array of relaxing options to help you find balance, including Champissage. Our lives are more stressful than ever, and it's rare we get time to focus solely on ourselves. You’re probably aware of common massage techniques like Swedish and deep tissue because they are most commonly sought out when your muscles really start to ache. We offer a great selection of modalities at Soma Spa. You may not be as familiar with the ancient Indian massage practice of Champissage, but we're here to fix that.

It’s Over 1,000 Years Old

Also known as an Indian head massage, this technique has been practiced for more than a thousand years in India. More and more holistic wellness practitioners and massage therapists outside of India are recognizing its many benefits. It’s now practiced around the world to provide relief from stress and discomfort.

It Focuses on Areas of High Tension

Commonly thought of as a head massage, this technique happens in steps on five places on the body, including the:

  • Face
  • Head
  • Neck
  • Shoulders and arms
  • Upper back

Many of us suffer from headaches, stiff necks and tight shoulders because we don’t realize how much tension we carry in these areas. We use a firm and gentle rhythm to work the stiffness out of muscles and reduce pain. This massage is done while our client is sitting on a chair, fully clothed.

It Uses Ayurveda Elements

Ayurveda, or the traditional Hindu system of medicine, focuses on balancing all bodily systems. Champissage is not just about the physical manipulation of muscles and soft tissue, but it also uses a subtle form of energy balancing. We believe by focusing on the three higher Chakras, we can help instill a sense of well-being, calm and peace. This transformative Chakra balancing can bring balance to the entire body, not just the area being physically worked on.

It Provides Multiple Benefits

Like other forms of massage, there is a wide array of benefits you can receive from this treatment. Our clients come to us with a multitude of symptoms they have because of everyday stress, fast-paced schedules or general imbalance. We find this massage treatment works well to improve:

  • Depression
  • Tension headaches
  • Migraine
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Localized pain
  • Sinus problems
  • Circulation
  • Jaw pain from teeth grinding and TMJ

Even if you just want to tune the world out for a little while so you can reconnect with your center, this is a wonderful and calming way to do it. Our clients leave their session not only feeling more relaxed and less tense, but they also walk out more centered, with their bodies, minds and lives feeling more in balance.

Soma Spa

Soma means “pertaining to the body” in Greek and refers to the Moon in Hindu mythology, which represents the mind and emotion. When you combine those two meanings, you align the mind, body and spirit, and that’s what you’ll find inside our doors – balance.

We take our time to understand your needs and areas of concern, and recommend the right treatment to meet your needs. We’re proud to offer an amazing menu of massage therapy, skincare treatments and Ayurveda treatments. Our goal is to help each of our clients make a deep connection between their minds and bodies. When you walk through our doors, you are our guest, never just an appointment.
